Evan brought CP The Fanchise onto Thursday's show to clear the air about why superstars continue to shun the Knicks, and CP reported that he heard Damian Lillard did not have interest in playing alongside a player like Julius Randle.
Hence the reports of Lillard expressing a willingness to play with the Heat, Bucks, or Nets, and not the Knicks.
From a pure basketball standpoint, a big three of Lillard, Jalen Brunson, and Julius Randle would have likely made for a stagnant offense consisting of three players that demand the ball and have a tendency to drain the shot clock, while defensively, the backcourt would have left a lot to be desired.
But X's and O's aside, Evan wondered if any star would want to play for the Knicks if Randle is on the roster.
CP agreed that it is a question the Knicks will have to grapple with, whether they can win with the two-time All-Star or not, but Evan already had his answer.
"He is not a winning player," Evan said. "I know that, and every Knicks fan knows that.
"He had a great regular season last year. And then what happened? He's a losing player."
Randle was having an All-Star season and an incredible bounceback campaign before injuring his ankle just before the playoffs. He reaggravated it in the clinching game five against the Cavaliers, and was mainly a non-factor in the playoffs for the second time in as many tries with the Knicks.
For Evan, he has seen all he needs to when it comes to Randle, and believes if New York gets back to the playoffs this season, fans will turn on Randle once again.
"By April, you'll know what I'm saying. Because you already know it," Evan said. "He's just not a winning player."
