Evan: Steph Curry will be next star available for Knicks, but could be a mistake

Evan believes the seeds have been planted for the next superstar to become available for the Knicks via trade, and it might be the brightest one since they coveted Kevin Durant four years ago.

It will be Durant’s former teammate with the Warriors, who the Knicks infamously came up just short in being able to acquire in the NBA Draft 14 years ago.

“I see the future. This is not a story today. It will be a story in the next few weeks, and I think it’s obvious,” Evan said. “You’ve been chasing a star forever…I know the next NBA star that’s about to become available, and you’re all gonna freak out because you’re all gonna want him, and I’m gonna tell you all to calm down, take a deep breath, because it’s a massive mistake…the next available superstar you’re all gonna drool over is the greatest shooter in the history of the sport, Stephen Curry.

“Are you willing to take all the assets you have collected…and you are ready to cash in on Steph Curry being the guy?”

Evan cautions that the 35-year-old Curry would require massive assets, perhaps RJ Barrett and four first-round picks to start, and the title window for New York would be tight due to Curry’s age. But given the present circumstances at Golden State, Curry is going to ask out, and the Knicks will have to decide whether or not he’s worth the price.

“Draymond Green was suspended yesterday. I don’t know what’s going on with Draymond Green personally…but the Draymond Green situation now features a suspension, and he’s gonna have to prove to the league that he’s ready to come back,” Evan said. “Klay Thompson looks washed. He’s 33 years old, he’s a few years removed from that major surgery, and he doesn’t have answers…Chris Paul is also a corpse of his former self, and let’s not forget that Bob Meyers, the guy who put it all together, is gone. The Warriors dynasty is dead.

“He’s going to go them, and it’s going to happen soon.”
