Jimmy Butler, playing on one leg after rolling his ankle in the fourth quarter on Sunday, still helped the Heat finish off the Knicks at Madison Square Garden to take a 1-0 series lead.
If Butler is still hobbling around by Tuesday night’s game two, Gio fully expects the Heat star to go off on the Knicks anyway.
“I mean this in the most endearing way possible,” Gio said. “He’s like a cockroach. You can’t kill the guy.
“It’s absolutely amazing. You think he’s dead, you think he’s out of the game, no. he’ll just come back and annoy the hell out of you when you’re the fan of the opponent or you’re the opponent. You can’t kill the guy. He’s gonna come out in game two and probably put up 50 points limping around, then he’ll get in wheelchair at the end of the game and they’ll roll him off, then he’ll come back out for game three and do the same thing.”
Butler averaged 38 points in Miami’s first-round series win over the top-seeded Bucks, and Gio can see Butler still putting forth a superstar effort, even if he is compromised by his ankle injury.
