Gio laments Knicks injury wave: 'Too many speed bumps with this team'

Jalen Brunson is nursing an ankle injury after rolling it late in Tuesday's Knicks win over the Grizzlies, and Boomer wonders if the injury was a product of coming out of the game with New York leading by 30, and resting back for what he thought would be a night off the rest of the way.

"This is what happens when you take players out towards the end of the game, they cool down on the bench, and in their minds, they're not thinking that they have to go back in," Boomer said.

"When you have that thought process and you have to go back in, it's hard to restart."

Brunson sat his normal rotation time early in the fourth quarter, then checked back in with the Knicks up by 20 with eight minutes to go. it's possible he could have believed that his night was done, and wouldn't need to go back in during the fourth quarter with New York cruising, but ultimately, Gio believes it is a symptom of the Knicks just not being able to enjoy nice things, even in what seems like a special season.

"Of course, nothing can be easy with the Knicks," Gio said. "There's a long way to go, but it feels like there's too many speed bumps with this team. Even when things are going well, there has to be something that's a challenge."
