Jalen Brunson appeared genuinely stunned when he was whistled for a foul on a desperation heave by Aaron Holiday from well beyond the 3-point line with just 0.3 seconds to go in Monday's loss to the Rockets.
Instead of heading to overtime after a spirited Knicks comeback, New York dropped its third straight, and players looked shocked and disgusted with the foul call that was eventually admitted to be wrong call by crew chief Ed Malloy after the game.
Despite their reactions on the court when the foul was called, the Knicks didn't take that into the locker room when asked about the play by reporters after the 105-103 loss.
"Great call," Brunson said. "Next question."
When Brunson was asked anything else relatively related to the last play of the game, he went back to that refrain.
"It was a great call," Brunson said. "Next question."
Tom Thibodeau clearly didn't have anything nice to say about the call either.
"You look at it," Thibodeau said, after seemingly sarcastically describing it as a "great" call.
