Josh Hart and the Knicks are back in action on Friday night after the NBA All-Star break, and the newest Knick will be looking to build off of his impressive New York introduction that he put up in his first three games since being acquired from Portland.
For Hart, the stretch run of the regular season will also be an audition for a long-term deal with his new team, something he says he would love to have happen, and wants to be a Knick for life.
"That's something I definitely want to do," Hart said, via the New York Post. "I want a home. I want to find a home. This is a place where I would love that home to be. On the court, there are so many things that align with my principles as a player and off the court just being around with friends and close to family. This would be an amazing spot. Hopefully they feel the same.
"It's a perfect situation for me on and off the court."
Hart is averaging 17 points per game in his three games with the Knicks, shooting nearly 65 percent from downtown in that span. The Villanova product is known for his feisty defense and superb rebounding, and if he is incorporating an efficient shot on the offensive end, he would be a valuable piece for a Knicks team hoping to secure a top-six spot in the Eastern Conference.
As for beyond this season, Hart hopes his play on the court, and his relationship with Leon Rose, his former agent, helps secure a contract that would make New York his long-term home.
"Hopefully I can tap his pockets a little bit," Hart joked.
