Julius Randle told reporters on Wednesday that he still can't rule out season-ending surgery on his separated shoulder, and he will have to do what's best for his long-term career.
Some fans took that latter remark as a cue to criticize the injured Knicks, and BT was quick to shut down that take.
"If you want to talk about Randle not getting the job done thus far in the playoffs, you're statistically right. That's irrefutable," BT said. "Some people are actually making it seem as if Randle is either selfish or lazy or not team-first enough. Julius Randle is a piece of steel. He shows up and busts his ass every single night. Thirty five minutes, 38 minutes, 40 minutes."
Randle played every game last season before spraining his ankle five games before the playoffs, and had been suiting up every night before his shoulder injury against the Heat this year. Consistently among the league leaders in minutes played, and having played through an ankle injury in the postseason last year, BT says any questions about Randle's commitment to the Knicks is absurd and unfounded.
"He's not perfect, but in terms of commitment, you gotta check yourself if you're getting on Julius Randle," BT said. "That's ridiculous."
