What was Jalen Brunson's reaction to the NBA's investigation of the Knicks for tampering when it came to the signing of the prized free agent point guard?
"I didn't really have one," Brunson said. "There's nothing really to investigate."
The league reportedly will look into the Rick Brunson connection, Jalen's father who was hired as a Knicks assistant back in June. But as that investigation continues, Brunson prepares for his first season in New York after signing a $100 million deal, and as the coveted free agent signing and missing out on a Donovan Mitchell trade, many will expect Brunson to help take the Knicks to the next level.
But Brunson doesn't see himself as another potential franchise hero, one the team has been starving for.
"Most importantly, I just want to be myself," Brunson said. "I'm not a savior in any way, shape, or form. I just want to be able to contribute to the team and try to help this team win games."
As for the team he is joining, Brunson is ready to mesh with his new teammates and help New York in its quest to get back to the postseason.
"I like the group," Brunson said. "Came in to build chemistry with these guys and see what we can unlock and unleash. I'm really excited."
