Julius Randle 'learned a lot' from last season, 'ready to get the ball rolling'

Julius Randle experienced quite the fall last season, going from franchise savior hearing "MVP" chants to becoming public enemy No. 1 after openly feuding with the Knicks fanbase during a year of notable regression.

But Randle says he has grown from that experience, going from the league's most improved player to one of the most inefficient midrange shooters in the league.

"I learned a lot," Randle said. "When it's good, it's easy to be a leader. When things aren't as good, when you're going through adversity, it's even more important.

"It's hurdles, ups and downs, all different types of things. But like anything, whether it's a great season or it's a bad season, you learn, and I learned a lot, for sure."

Randle wasn't the greatest leader last season, widely criticized for a notable lack of energy and hustle, particularly in transition or on the defensive end. It was a far cry from his value to the team two years ago, and now, Randle is ready to hit the court and begin his climb back towards the player he was before signing his extension with New York.

"I'm just excited," Randle said. "I feel great about our team, mentally and physically where we are as a team, and just ready to get the ball rolling."
