As successful as All-Star Friday Night was for the Knicks’ Quentin Grimes, All-Star Saturday Night was equally unfruitful for teammates Julius Randle and Jericho Sims.

Randle started as just the fifth lefty to ever compete in the Three-Point Contest, but his score of 13 was the second-worst of the eight-man field in the first round – Kevin Huerter had 8 – and he was eliminated before the round as even over.

Then came the Slam Dunk Contest, where Jericho Sims was one of four competitors vying for the crown. He did an alley-oop off the backboard dunk on his first try, hanging his arms inside the rim, for a 47.6 average score. His second dunk was similar – this time he grabbed a piece of paper off the net (which was later revealed to be a “50” sign) and held one arm inside the rim, this dunk getting a 47.8.

It was not enough, though, as Trey Murphy III’s total of 96 and Mac McClung’s 99.8 pushed them into the finals over Sims’ 95.4.

Damian Lillard went on to win the Three-Point Contest, topping Buddy Hield and Tyrese Haliburton in the finals, while McClung defeated Murphy to win the Slam Dunk.
