Julius Randle opened his when he switched agents last month, moving away from CAA and its heavy Knicks influence.

Some wondered if it meant there was a potential strain on the relationship between the Knicks and their two-time All-Star, and whatever the reason for the change, Randle wouldn’t reveal it during media day on Monday.

Instead, he jokingly said he wanted to be closer to RJ Barrett, who is also with WME, where Randle moved to from CAA.

“I wanted to be closer to RJ,” Randle laughed, with Barrett seated next to him.

“Aaron [Mintz] was great, he’s been with me for the majority of my career. He did a great job during that time for me. For me, I just wanted to be closer to RJ.”

As for Barrett, he spoke highly of the ability to spend his career with Randle so far, and doesn’t seem to want that to change.

“I just realized that I've only known NBA basketball with Julius Randle,” Barrett said. “And that's actually pretty cool.”
