The Knicks were dealt a major blow on Monday afternoon, as the team announced center Mitchell Robinson will undergo ankle surgery and won't be reevaluated for 8-10 weeks.
Robinson was enjoying arguably the best season of his career before the injury, and had put himself into all-defense conversations. Now, he will miss extended time and leave a massive hole at the rim for the Knicks defense.
Robinson, 25, was averaging career highs in rebounds (10.3) and steals (1.5) per game.
The former second-round pick has dealt with lower-body injuries in the past, including a foot fracture.
With Robinson out, Isaiah Hartenstein will see his minutes increase at center.
