The Knicks have reportedly zeroed in on a third head coaching candidate that they will sit down with for an interview.
According to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, New York is interviewing Timberwolves assistant coach Micah Nori for their head coaching vacancy, joining Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins on the list of candidates to have a formal interview with the Knicks.
Nori, known for his wit and humor during on-court interviews, assumed head coaching duties for Minnesota during the 2024 playoffs when head coach Chris Finch suffered a leg injury, and helped the T-Wolves to the Western Conference Finals. One of the key cogs on that Minnesota squad was Karl-Anthony Towns, who just helped New York to its first conference final appearance in 25 years.
Nori has been an assistant with the Timberwolves since 2021, and has been on the coaching staffs of the Nuggets, Kings, and Raptors as well.
The 51-year-old has received high praise from stars like Anthony Edwards, and he helped Nikola Jokic blossom into a star as a member of Denver’s coaching staff from 2015 to 2018.
