The Knicks haven't taken a game over the Hawks just yet in their first-round series, but they did get a different victory over Atlanta on Tuesday.
The NBA announced Tuesday that the Knicks had won the draft tiebreaker over the Hawks, giving New York the 19th overall pick in the upcoming draft, while the Mavericks won their tiebreaker over the Lakers and Trailblazers to claim the 21st overall pick, which will also go to the Knicks as a result of the Kristaps Porzingis trade.
For New York, both tiebreaker results were the best possible outcome. The team could have picked as low as 22nd and 23rd, so the results were welcomed given the team's recent string of bad luck in the lottery.
The Knicks could package both picks to move up in the draft if they choose to be aggressive and see a prospect on the board that they covet, of try and go for multiple late-round steals and try and grab another Immanuel Quickley type, who made an instant playoff impact as a rookie after being taken 25th overall.
The tiebreakers were determined via coin flips.
Recent mock drafts have Kentucky center Isaiah Jackson at 19th overall and Florida guard Tre Mann at 21st.
