Plenty of Knicks are trying to work their way back to form in the conditioning department due to stays on the league's health and safety protocols, but Mitchell Robinson continues to look in top form.
The center, back in the starting lineup on Tuesday night, set a season high with 18 rebounds to go along with his 14 points and two steals in another all-around dominant effort in what was New York's first time stringing together consecutive wins since late October.
"I like that I can feel myself getting in condition better," Robinson said. "I'm running a lot better. I think I gotta still get stable to catch the ball. I missed a couple baskets today, so I gotta get stable. Other than that, I feel like it's working out great."
While many of the Knicks returning from the COVID-19 list are battling to get their conditioning back after a 10-day layoff, Robinson is fighting to get back into top shape after nearly eight months and two surgeries. Conditioning has been at the forefront all season, but as he continues to distance himself from his foot surgery, Robinson is looking more lively by the night.
"I'm not halfway, but I'm a little past halfway," Robinson said. "It's right there. I gotta push a little bit more.
"Once I'm conditioned, I can think better, I can play better, I'm just active. I'm a high-energy guy. That's mainly the key. You can't teach that."
Robinson has showed that energy of late, averaging a double-double over his last six games, while shooting 91 percent from the floor. This has all been while Robinson has battled a sprained wrist, but it doesn't seem to be holding him back in the slightest.
"It happened a few games ago, but it was never to the point where I needed to sit out or anything like that," Robinson said. "Just had to continue to tape it and keep moving."
