Nerlens Noel questionable for Knicks in pivotal game two

The Knicks could be without a key frontcourt piece for Wednesday's pivotal game two against the Hawks, as Nerlens Noel was listed as questionable after practice on Tuesday.

Noel left game one early after committing a foul on Trae Young with 6:43 left in the fourth quarter. The center landed awkwardly, limped off the court and tried going through stretches and other workouts behind the Knicks bench, but never returned in the team's 107-105 loss.

Taj Gibson handled center duties the rest of the way, but with Mitchell Robinson already out with a fractured foot, Noel represents a crucial piece to try and contain Atlanta's Clint Capela.

Thibodeau said Monday that Noel "tweaked his ankle" on the play, but he was able to slightly increase activity during Tuesday's practice.

"Nerlens did a little more today so he's feeling better," Thibodeau said Tuesday.

Gibson told reporters that Noel "looked like himself" in practice, which would be a good sign for a Knicks team that desperately needs his shot-blocking ability, and a win on Wednesday night.

If Noel isn't able to go, Norvel Pelle could see minutes behind Gibson.
