RJ Barrett is likely out “a week or so” in another Knicks injury blow, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

Per Bondy, Barrett will not play in Thursday night’s game against the Spurs after leaving Tuesday’s game against the Mavericks early in the first quarter with a finger laceration.

Barrett was driving baseline when Luka Doncic swiped his hand across to knock the ball free, and in doing so, sliced Barrett’s index finger on his right hand.

The injury not only comes at a time when the Knicks are struggling, having lost four in a row, but are also shorthanded, playing without the injured Obi Toppin (leg fracture) and played without Jalen Brunson on Tuesday (sore right hip).

In Tuesday’s overtime loss, Tom Thibodeau stuck with a rotation of just nine, adding in Derrick Rose due to injuries. Four Knicks players played at least 45 minutes in the loss.

The loss of Barrett comes just as the 22-year-old was finding his way, shooting 48 percent from the field and 46 percent from downtown while averaging 23.5 points per game over the last 10 contests.
