After the Knicks escaped the lowly Pistons thanks to the officials missing a foul call on Donte DiVincenzo in the closing seconds of play on Monday night, Sal wanted to know where all the critics of the refs went from the Knicks fanbase.
"All the 'Oh, the Knicks never get the benefit of the doubt of a call, Brunson gets screwed,' where were you last night complaining?" Sal said. "Good for Monty Williams to go after the refs, because that was ridiculous. Donte DiVincenzo making a tackle as if he plays for the Jets or Giants.
"I'm consistent. I don't complain about the officials. But for those that do...what about last night? For all those people who are loud and bitching about the referees every single time the Knicks or Brunson get screwed…then be consistent."
Sal says the same Knicks fans that were up in arms about the brutal foul call on Jalen Brunson in Houston earlier this month should have been just as loud in their declaration that their team was bailed out on Monday night.
"They should have lost the game," Sal said. "It was a horrible call. Maybe the worst I've ever seen. You can't tackle people in basketball."
