Julius Randle needs to introduction nowadays, especially in New York, but he was given one anyway before speaking to reporters on Tuesday.
As he sat down for his Zoom call, the All-Star was cut off by teammate Theo Pinson, who gave Randle a boxing match-type greeting to hype up one of the biggest contributors to New York's turnaround this season.
"Proper introductions for your 2021 Eastern Conference Player of the Week, Julius Randle," Pinson said. "Kentucky University, national championship runner-up."
After breaking out in laughter at Pinson's dig (Randle's Wildcats lost to UConn in the 2014 National Championship), Randle had to correct Pinson for his improper wording for Randle's alma mater.
"You don't even know how to say it right," Randle said. "It's the Universitry of Kentucky. That's North Carolina for you right there."
Randle was indeed named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday, averaging 35.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game, helping the Knicks to a 4-0 record in that span. New York has won six in a row.
