Tim Hardaway Jr. looked very comfortable in his former home building on Saturday afternoon.
The former Knick torched New York inside Madison Square Garden in what was an all-too-familiar disastrous third quarter for the Knicks, who were outscored as a team by Hardaway, who scored 17 in the third compared to New York’s 15.
The Knicks came out of the locker room leading by seven, but after Hardaway drilled his eighth triple of the game, the lead was 10 for the Mavericks, and Hardaway turned back towards the Dallas bench, yelling “This is my city!” as his red-hot shooting continued.
At the end of the third, Hardaway was shooting 10-for-17 from the floor and 8-for-13 from downtown, logging 28 points.
Hardaway, part of the Kristaps Porzingis trade to Dallas, played a total of four seasons in two stints with the Knicks, and shot 34.1 percent from downtown during his time in New York. He seemed to be thoroughly enjoying his return to MSG on Saturday.
