The Knicks, losers of 13 of their last 16 games, reportedly began experiencing finger pointing heading into the All-Star break, when SNY reported that executive vice president William "World Wide Wes" Wesley blamed head coach Tom Thibodeau for the team's struggles when talking with owner James Dolan.
But Thibodeau paid no mind to those rumors when asked about them after Wednesday's practice.
"I talk to Wes all the time," Thibodeau said. "I don't respond to rumors or any of that stuff.
Many have wondered whether Thibodeau's seat is heating up as New York continues to labor through a disappointing season. He hasn't given newly-acquired Cam Reddish much playing time, and reportedly never supported the deal for the former top-10 draft pick, and the front office tried, and failed, to shop around some of its veterans to clear space for the younger players that haven't seen as much playing time due to Thibodeau's rotations. But Thibodeau reiterated that he speaks with the front office every day, including Wesley and team president Leon Rose.
So, if there is any blame being pushed Thibodeau's way, he hasn't lost any sleep over it.
"I know the drill here," Thibodeau said. "I've been here before. I don't worry about any of that stuff."
