Angels owner Arte Moreno announced that he is exploring the sale of the team, igniting even more speculation that two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani could be moved this winter as the franchise transitions into a new era.
Ohtani trade rumors swirled before this year's deadline, but ultimately, he wasn't moved. Now that the team is going to be for sale, Tiki and Tierney say it's a done deal that Ohtani will be in a new uniform come next April.
"You'd have to think that Mr. Ohtani is gonna be shopped," Tiki said.
"Ohtani is done this offseason, there's no doubt about it," BT replied.
As to where Ohtani might land, Tiki seems convinced that he is heading to the Big Apple thanks to Ohtani's familiarity with former Angels GM Billy Eppler, now with the Mets.
"So much of what went into him going to the Angels had to do with Eppler, and his ability to navigate that process," Tiki said. "They know him as good as anybody, at least Billy Eppler does, and he knows Ohtani as good as anybody.
"At some point, Billy Eppler is going to say, 'I want him. I went through all this effort to get him to the Angels and now I'm with the Mets. I want him.' If he's available this offseason, the Mets are definitely gonna be in play for him."
BT took it a step further into what would likely be the biggest offseason for a team in MLB history in terms of adding star power.
"We know Cohen is eventually going to make a monster splash," BT said. "Can you imagine if Cohen walks away with Ohtani and Judge this offseason?"
