Boomer accused of being Debbie Downer after going off on 'horrendous' Mets bullpen

Boomer insisted he wasn't being a Debbie Downer after the biggest Mets win of the season, but he couldn't help but be mortified at what he saw from the New York bullpen before Pete Alonso bailed them out with a walk-off home run in the 10th.

"The Mets bullpen did not do a good job," Boomer said. "When your high-leverage guys get a chance to pitch in a high-leverage situation, they all imploded.

"If you're gonna sit here and tell me that bullpen was good last night, they were horrendous."

Adam Ottavino surrendered a two-run home run to Brandon Lowe right after Mark Vientos tied the game with a two-run shot, and the bullpen as a whole allowed seven runs in four innings of work, nearly wasting a masterpiece from Kodai Senga.

Boomer was still thrilled with the win, but believes the bullpen will be a big problem as the team tries to turn its season around.

"It comes down to pitching. You know that and I know that," Boomer said. "I'm not being a Debbie Downer, I'm being realistic…our bullpen was a disaster. You gotta see it for what it is."
