Boomer on forecast for Mets Opening Day: 'Just close it down and start on Friday'

The Mets will be the first team to take the field on Opening Day, as they will host the Brewers at 1:10 p.m., nearly two hours before any other team gets their season started.

Weather permitting, of course.

The forecast is calling for a wet and chilly afternoon in Queens, and if that doesn't change, Boomer and Jerry agree that it would be best to just move the game to Friday, an off day put in the schedule for the very purpose of being a makeup day should Thursday bring bad weather.

"It's gonna be wet, damp, and disgusting, and they should move it to Friday," Jerry said. "But I don't know that they're necessarily gonna cancel Thursday, because it doesn't look like it's gonna be a washout. Just damp and cold."

If Boomer was in the commissioner's office, he would get ahead of it and move Opening Day to Friday.

"This is why they have the open day on Friday, just in case Thursday is bad," Boomer said. "Just close it down and start on Friday."
