The Mets lost again on Tuesday, and will have to win Wednesday night to still have a chance to win their first series in over a month.
Justin Verlander, the team's hopeful ace, was bombed for six runs in five innings of work, and the bats did little to show signs of life.
For Boomer, it's been hard to watch a team that came into the season with World Series aspirations, and seemingly have no pulse.
"They are flat…that's a team that looks lifeless," Boomer said. "That hasn't been the characteristic of this team with Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil, Brandon Nimmo…these guys are supposed to be some of the best players in the league at their respective positions, and they're supposed to be bringing an attitude, and they aren't.
"My God, something has got to give. It is as flat as flat could be. That's not who these personalities are on this team."
The Mets are in the bottom third of the league in home runs, rank 18th in the league in team OPS, and the starting rotation remains in disarray. Boomer says Mets fans can only hope someone on the team wakes up, because they look like they're sleepwalking through the season so far.
"It's almost as if everyone is waiting for someone else to do something," Boomer said. "They look like they're defeated, like they've lost their confidence. I'm like 'Wait, timeout, this is a $350 million team.' You can't look like this."
