Max Scherzer joined the Foul Territory podcast this week to talk about his trade deadline experience, from his conversation with Mets brass to his decision to waive his no-trade clause to join the Rangers.
Scherzer raved about Steve Cohen and his experience with the Mets organization, which Boomer and Jerry say should be a breath of fresh air for Mets fans.
"This is not the same old Mets in terms of ownership and front office," Jerry said. "They are really putting the players first, and they've got a vision for this organization.
"If you're a Mets fan, I think it came across really, really well."
Scherzer certainly endured his valleys in his short time with the Mets, flopping in the two biggest starts of his tenure, but Boomer still believes that, overall, Scherzer did a solid job.
"He left a good mark on the Mets…I know he was a failure against the Braves and the Padres last year. I would give him a B+ here," Boomer said. "Him and Verlander both get a B+. they were both good, but they didn't get a chance to be great, at least this year."
