Steve Cohen has continued to give a glowing endorsement of Buck Showalter, even through the trying 2023 season that will go down as one of the most disappointing in baseball history.
Showalter is under contract through 2024, but some troubling trend in the eyes of Boomer would lead him to make a change at manager this offseason.
"As much respect as I have for Buck, and as long as he's been around, I feel like I want more of a hard-ass coach," Boomer said.
A surprised Jerry asked Boomer if he meant he would move on from Showalter now.
"I would," Boomer said. "A lot of weird things with this team. The whole squirrel think with Jeff McNeil and Francisco Lindor, the whole thing with Verlander and Scherzer, the whole hump bump in the middle in the field.
"I thought he was a culture guy. I thought he was gonna come in and really talk about baserunning, fielding, now all of a sudden, they're no good?"
