On Tuesday, BT and Sal went over the bleak outlook for the Mets bullpen behind Edwin Diaz.

On Wednesday, they turned their attention to the starting rotation, which BT believes looks even worse.

“I think the Mets rotation has a chance to be the worst in baseball. I really do,” BT said. “I think the rotation is going to destroy your season.”

The rotation seems to be set with Kodai Senga, Luis Severino, Jose Quintana, Sean Manaea, and Adrian Houser, and BT says the former Yankee and Cy Young finalist is the biggest reason for concern.

“The problem is Severino,” BT said. “Luis Severino, in 2019, had three starts. In 2020, he didn’t pitch. In 2021, he made no starts. In 2022 he made 19 and was pretty good, and in 2023, made 18, and was statistically the worst pitcher in baseball.

“If you are holding out hope on Severino…for a guy who has pitched 200 innings over five years, your season is going nowhere.”
