BT and Sal began Wednesday's show by reacting to the report by SNY's Andy Martino that the Mets will loosely cap their offseason spending at $10 million the rest of the way, and BT said that should be enough to infuriate Mets fans after the disaster of last season.
"This is a joke…what in the world is this team doing?" BT said. "If I'm a Mets fan, I'm feeling duped right now.
"I guess they're rebuilding? I don't know if I'm looking at a rebuild…what I'm looking at is a mishmash of I don't know what."
BT has been critical of the Mets offseason from the start, when they signed Luis Severino to a one-year deal and have made high-risk, high-reward moves similar to that ever since. If the team is indeed capping their spending when there are still multiple roster needs to address, then fans should be livid.
"Citi Field - and this is sad - that place is going to resemble a cemetery by July," BT said. "This team is gonna be unwatchable within 40-50 games. They're worse than the Marlins."
