Buck Showalter used the word "we" when explaining the thought process behind constructing the Mets lineup with the likes of Daniel Vogelbach batting in the middle of the order, and that was enough to sway BT's opinion.
BT is no longer putting the blame on the manager for the team's inconsistent lineup construction. He is not convinced those lineups are a directive from up high.
"Buck Showalter is not making out the lineup. It was confirmed last night," BT said. "He told the entire free world that he's not making out the lineup.
"Who's 'we'? what, did you confer with Mr. Met while you were at the urinals? 'We' is the geeky, analytical nerds, and Billy Eppler."
BT says that would explain Showalter's noticeable lack of engagement when compared to last season, and why the Mets continue to pencil in struggling veterans while promising prospects waste away on the bench.
"'We' came to the conclusion. 'We.' It also explains why Francisco Alvarez doesn't play enough," BT said. "This explains why Vientos doesn't play enough. This explains the wacky, unproductive, straight-up dumb lineups that the Mets have trotted out too often this season.
"He's lethargic and disengaged because he's being told what to do, and he's finally fed up with it."
