Max Scherzer recently pointed to a cut on his pitching thumb as a potential reason for his postseason struggles with the Rangers, and that was enough to send C-Mac off the edge when it comes to the former Met.
“I don’t know why Max Scherzer bothers me so much,” C-Mac said. “All of the excuses, and he’s back at it.
“This guy is an absolute joke. I’m sorry. If his foot isn’t quite lifting high enough, or his cleats were too heavy because there was too much wet dirt in them. He’s got all these little excuses. This guy is a Hall of Famer. He’s one of the best to ever do it…at the end of his career here, he hasn’t been good in big games. In the big spots, he’s faded…stop making these stupid excuses. You cut your thumb, and found a way to put glue on it? No, you just happen to be awful.”
Scherzer has struggled down the stretch in each of the past three seasons as he nears the end of his remarkable career, and he will likely get a World Series start with Texas, though his leash will likely be short if he runs into early trouble like he did in his two ALCS outings. C-Mac can only hope there won’t be public excuses made afterward if that is the case.
“I found a cut on my thumb. That’s the problem. That’s why I can’t get out of the third or fourth inning,” C-Mac said. “Come on, just say you stink, nobody’s gonna get on you.”
