C-Mac: Mets offseason has become an 'absolute disaster'

According to SNY's Andy Martino, the Mets have a loose spending cap of $10 million for the rest of the offseason, which C-Mac says is an embarrassment for a team with the richest owner in baseball coming off their most disappointing season in recent memory.

"You should not expect to add a DH, you should not expect to add another pitcher to the starting rotation…no J.D. Martinez, no Justin Turner," C-Mac said. "This offseason is an absolute disaster. I don't care what anybody says. They have done nothing. I don't understand the plan. I guess I understand what they're telling me the plan is, which is to sit there and wait. For what?"

With pitchers like Jordan Montgomery and Blake Snell there for the taking in free agency, and a plethora of DH options to address a glaring need, the Mets went after one-year signings like Luis Severino and Harrison Bader, which C-Mac says is not how the Mets were supposed to operate under Steve Cohen.

"I get not doing some of the things the Mets did," C-Mac said. "I'm not gonna go crazy about not trading for Juan Soto or one of these pitchers…I don't have a problem with not trading away assets…money doesn't affect that. The word 'budget' is an absolute joke. The Mets should never have a budget."
