As revealed by Evan Roberts live on the air during Tuesday’s Carton & Roberts Show, Citi Field will increase capacity starting June 11, with 77 percent of the seating to be “vaccinated” sections with no social distancing requirement for vaccinated persons or children not yet of vaccine age accompanying them.
From a season-ticket holder email received by Roberts:
We are excited to announce that in partnership with New York State and the Department of Health, we will be introducing additional fully vaccinated sections throughout Citi Field. Please note the section of record on your account will now be operating at full capacity and has been deemed a fully vaccinated section.
Assuming those on your account can provide proof of vaccination upon entry into Citi Field, you will be able to return to your normal season ticket location effective Friday, June 11. Please note, all guests aged 16 and over will be required to provide proof of full vaccination upon entry.
If you can provide proof of full vaccination upon entry, no action is required on your account at this time. You will automatically be relocated back to your original location effective for games starting on Friday, June 11.
The email further explains that “guests 15 years and under do not require proof of vaccination, nor a negative COVID-19 Test,” and any season ticket holders in the soon-to-become vaccinated sections who cannot provide proof of vaccination can request either alternate ticket locations or an account credit.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo had previously announced earlier this month that as of May 19, both stadiums could increase capacity based on having separate sections for vaccinated and unvaccinated persons, with full capacity in vaccinated sections and up to 33 percent (based on social distancing requirements) for unvaccinated people.
Based on a capacity of 41,922, that means Citi Field could theoretically have a current max of approximately 35,500; the full 77 percent in vaccinated sections totals 32,280, and roughly 3,214 (one-third of the remaining 23 percent) would be in the unvaccinated sections.
