(670 The Score) The Cubs have claimed outfielder Johneshwy Fargas from the Mets, they announced Friday. Chicago then optioned Fargas to Triple-A Iowa.
Fargas, 26, was 6-for-21 in seven games for the Mets this season, which marked his first big league action. Fargas is hitting .231 with four homers, 12 RBIs, 11 stolen bases and a .788 OPS in 19 games at various minor league levels in 2021.
The Cubs transferred reliever Brad Wieck to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move Friday.
