Darryl Strawberry revealed on his Instagram that he suffered a heart attack on Monday evening, but was happy to report that he is recovering well around loved ones in St. Louis.

“Praising God for His amazing grace and loving mercy in saving my life this evening from a heart attack,” Strawberry wrote. “I am so happy and honored to report that all is well. So thankful for the medical team and staff at St. Joseph West in Lake St. Louis for responding so quickly and bringing me through a stent-procedure that has brought my heart to total restoration!!!”

Steve and Alex Cohen made a statement on Strawberry’s health scare Tuesday morning, expressing relief that the Mets great is doing well and already on the mend.

“On behalf of the entire organization, we are sending positive thoughts to Darryl Strawberry, his wife Tracy, and his entire family after last night’s heart attack,” the statement read. “We are looking forward to Straw’s speedy recovery and welcoming him for his number retirement ceremony on June 1.

The former Mets star will indeed be in Queens in June, along with Dwight Gooden, as the two pillars of the franchise’s last World Series title will be immortalized in Queens forever. Fortunately, it seems like Strawberry will have no problem making it for the ceremonies after his health scare.
