Evan calls out Mets for raising season ticket prices amid disastrous season

Evan received an email notifying him of an increase in his season ticket prices with the Mets, and he was not happy at all with what that means for other fans with their own packages.

"I got an email, a very innocuous email about my season tickets…and I saw a price increase for the first time in a decade, and it was significant," Evan said. "Forget about me, I'm one guy who has a great job and I love the team. This isn't about me. So I did some research and talked to my fellow Mets fans…and I got one guy who sits in 409 promenade and says they were raised 20 percent. Another guy said his 20-game plan cut out the Yankees and no longer guarantees postseason tickets. What the hell is going on?

"I made out OK. I took an increase, I'll live, I'm fine. But those guys and gals did not."

Evan has a big problem with the Mets raising prices while finishing up arguably the most disappointing season in franchise history, even if Steve Cohen is putting a lot of money into the team. That doesn't matter if it's not leading to wins.

"I respect the Knicks and Rangers. They have a clause. They have a deal, if they don't make the playoffs, there is no raise. If they make the playoffs, there is a raise," Evan said. "You cannot be a team in this town - the Yankees and Jets have done it, and I killed them - the Mets are now doing it off a year when they are potentially going to lose 90 games. You can't have a year like this and raise prices on fans.

"If anything, the Mets should have sent us a voucher saying, 'We're sorry your games were just dead for the final three months, here's a discount.' The cahones of the Mets…you cannot raise prices off bad seasons. It is wrong, it is disingenuous, it's not right to their customers."
