Evan noticed looser Mets clubhouse thanks to addition of mini basketball hoop

Evan was down in Port St. Lucie over the weekend, and during his visit, he noticed one clear difference between this year and last year.

"I noticed that, in the Met locker room, they had a basketball hoop," Evan said. "There were games going on, and Pete was showing off his jump shot. It is not a real one. Not a Nerf one. It was like a mini basketball, and a smaller hoop."

The introduction of the mini hoop intrigued Evan, who had to ask a writer covering the Mets if they had seen something like that in recent years.

"'I feel like this is new. I feel like they would never have this with Buck Showalter,'" Evan said. "He laughed and said 'Of course not.'"

That's a positive sign for Evan, that maybe the Mets are a little looser and having fun under first-year manager Carlos Mendoza.

"The Met locker room now features something tiny, but important," Evan said. "The ability to have fun."
