Mets fans are still waiting to see when Francisco Lindor will fulfill his promise and buy teammate Jeff McNeil a car for winning last year’s batting title.
Speaking on Mookie Betts’ On Base show on Bleacher Report, Lindor didn’t seem like he was on the cusp of fulfilling that promise, at least not in the near future.
“Yeah, I will get a car,” Lindor said. “It’s just a matter of what car I’m getting.”
McNeil jokingly sent Lindor video of cars he was looking at, but his double play partner has yet to buy him one, and joked to Betts that it may not even be a drivable car at all.
“I don’t know. It’s my wallet, so,” Lindor laughed. “It’s gonna happen. It might be a Hot Wheel. It might be a golf cart. It might be a nice car.
“It was just a walking by thing,” Lindor said of when he made the promise to McNeil early in the 2022 season. “He will get the car. I promise you that.”
