Gio was in high spirits to open Thursday’s show, having watched Max Scherzer implode on the playoff stage for a team not named the Mets.

“I would like to thank Max Scherzer for that free money last night…I knew it, and I cashed in,” Gio said, having placed a bet on the Astros once Scherzer was announced as the Rangers’ game three starter. “That guy sucks.

“What an amazing, amazing night for someone like me, who can’t stand Max Scherzer. That was great…I don’t care what he says after the game about him feeling good. The Rangers, who had won every single game in the postseason until that a-hole took the mound. There haven’t been a lot of good sports moments in the last couple months around here. That, my friend, was a good one.”

Gio has not hid his disdain for Scherzer since he faltered down the stretch for the Mets in 2022, and nothing he has done since has changed his mind about the future Hall of Famer.

“The way he handled that whole thing, and having to talk to ownership, and celebrating when he had nothing to do with the Rangers,” Gio said. “He had no contribution at all, and spraying champagne in people’s faces.”
