Gio is clearly not happy about the Mets reportedly calling up Gary Sanchez and activating him before Friday’s series opener against the Guardians.

“What a joke,” Gio said.

Boomer said the Mets can simply take a wait-and-see approach with Sanchez, and hope they strike lightning in a bottle and help the two-time All-Star rediscover his 2017 form. Gio says there’s no chance.

“We’ll see what happens? We saw what happened for years and years with that guy,” Gio said, who added he would have preferred anybody else get the call to help the team’s banged-up catchers group.

“What’s the alternative? Not calling up a guy who can’t hit in Triple-A, who is a major bust and one of the worst defensive catchers we’ve ever seen. How about anybody that can breathe? With sight?”

Boomer added that the veteran Sanchez could “take Francisco Alvarez under his wing,” and that only made Gio more dejected.

“Oh God,” Gio said. “If that happens, then forget about it.”
