Max Scherzer was scratched from Tuesday’s start due to neck spasms, not long after serving a 10-game suspension and not long after being bombed in the two biggest starts of his brief Mets career to end last season.
With all that in mind, Gio has had enough, and is convinced Scherzer simply got his record-setting contract and is coasting the rest of the way through his Hall of Fame career.
“The difference between Aaron Rodgers and Max Scherzer is that Aaron Rodgers came here…he talked about the legacy and what it would be to win as a Jets quarterback and he says all this stuff about the Super Bowl trophy being lonely,” Gio said. “Max Scherzer does his press conference on Zoom sitting next to Scott Boras, and said the only reason he was here was because of Steve Cohen.
“This is another money grab guy. Money grab guy. That’s what it was. End of his career, ‘who is gonna pay me the most? My neck can spasm, my oblique can bark, I can barf on the mound in a playoff game and give up seven runs.’”
Safe to say, Scherzer doesn’t have the biggest fans in Boomer and Gio at the moment.
