Anyone who has regularly tuned in to Mets games on SNY knows Keith Hernandez’s love for his cat Hadji, and Hernandez quickly became a worried cat dad during Tuesday night’s broadcast.

During the fourth inning of the Mets game against the Phillies, a ringing could be heard on the broadcast, and play-by-play announcer Gary Cohen became quickly confused, but Hernandez cleared it up, saying it was his iPad receiving a call.

“I got a slight emergency at home, that’s what it is,” Hernandez said.

Cohen, knowing his broadcast partner all too well, asked if everything was OK with Hadji, and sure enough, the phone call was related to Hernandez’s beloved cat.

“It’s just, somebody was supposed to feed my cat, and she hasn’t fed the cat in a while, and she used the wrong key, and it’s jammed in the door, and I don’t know if I’m going to be able to get in my house tonight,” Hernandez said.

The crew didn’t have much time to hear more about the specifics of the dilemma, as Dominic Smith promptly cranked a home run to left field, but they revisited the topic later, and Hernandez let everyone know that help was on the way to get inside his house to feed Hadji.

The Mets won the game 8-4, and Hadji was fed and taken care of.
