After signing lefty starter Jose Quintana to a two-year deal, the Mets reportedly swung a trade to bolster their bullpen on Wednesday.

According to multiple reports, New York has acquired southpaw reliever Brooks Raley in exchange for prospect Keyshawn Askew, a 22-year-old pitcher previously with the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones and a former 10th round pick.

Raley pitched to a 2.68 ERA in 60 appearances for Tampa last season, striking out 61 in 52.2 innings of work. Best against lefty hitters, Raley represents an upgrade in a needed position for the Mets, who could use an efficient lefty arm in the bullpen.

Raley pitched to a 4.78 ERA in 58 appearances with the Astros in 2021, and holds a career ERA of 4.64, but like many others, found success once surrounding himself with the Rays pitching philosophy. The 34-year-old is signed through 2023 and carries a team option for 2024.
