The Blue Jays parted ways with Yankee tormentor Teoscar Hernandez on Wednesday, shipping the All-Star to the Mariners, and Toronto's new outfield vacancy could reportedly impact a notable Mets free agent.
According to MLB Network's Jon Morosi, the Blue Jays have interest in Brandon Nimmo, now that the team has an opening in the outfield. Center field is currently occupied by George Springer, but he is likely to be moved out of center.
Nimmo, according to SNY's Andy Martino, is the Mets' top remaining internal free agent target now that Edwin Diaz has been retained, but they could have some competition in the Blue Jays, who are looking to improve from their second-place finish in the AL East last year.
