Brandon Nimmo delivered the decisive blow in the Mets win in Miami on Friday, untying a 4-4 game in the eighth inning with a two-run blast to send New York to another victory.
It was also quite the show of emotion from Nimmo, who let out a few "Hell yeahs!" as he made his way through the dugout after his trip around the bases.
"I've been struggling a little bit since the All-Star break, so I feel like I hadn't been contributing to the club, so being able to come through after some of those struggles really meant a lot to me in that moment," Nimmo said.
As for the celebrations afterward, mimicking the chants that teammates say to tease Nimmo for his typical lack of verbal emotion, Nimmo said they finally rubbed off on him.
"They're all bad influences on me," Nimmo laughed. "It's kind of a locker room joke, I'll go around and tell guys 'hell yeah'. It does happen in the locker room, sorry you guys had to hear that.
"But yeah, so excited and all the emotion came out. Was really fired up there."
