Brett Baty exits Triple-A game with thumb soreness, will undergo MRI

Many Mets fans have clamored for the red-hot prospect Brett Baty to get the call to the big league club amidst Eduardo Escobar's slow start, but that may not be an option for the time being.

Baty left Tuesday's Syracuse game after taking a swing and shaking off his hand several times in discomfort, and will undergo an MRI with right thumb soreness.

The hyped prospect will receive imaging on the thumb on Wednesday, the same thumb that ended his season with the Mets last year after he tore a ligament in September.

In a potentially good sign for New York, Baty finished his at-bat and drew a walk before coming out of the game, but given which thumb is experiencing soreness, it is a concern for the club.

Baty already has two home runs and is batting .400 in four games in Triple-A to start the season.
