Timmy Trumpet will be back at Citi Field on Wednesday night after Edwin Diaz wasn't able to make it into Tuesday night's game, and BT says the Mets should keep running him out there until the time comes to run out their closer.
"Just keep going back until you introduce Diaz," BT said. "He's gotta do it."
A few hours earlier, Sal Licata had a very different sentiment when it comes to the creator of the song now synonymous with Diaz's dominant season.
"You're ruining it! I don't want this guy anywhere near the Mets!" Sal said. "If Diaz blows it, you know what's gonna happen with that trumpet, right?"
Sal, convinced that the "Sports Gods" will smite Diaz and the Mets for going too far with Timmy Trumpet, doesn't want to poke the imaginary bear any longer, and says constantly bringing back Timmy Trumpet is only asking for further trouble.
"It's not about the song, it's about Diaz," Sal said. "He better not blow it."
