Mets 'expressing interest' in Daniel Vogelbach: Report

The Mets are almost certainly going to add a bat before the trade deadline, as team president Sandy Alderson has said publicly that DH is a main area of focus, but who will New York go after to address their need for more power?

According to FanSided's Robert Murray, the Mets could look to Pittsburgh for that need.

Murray reports that the Mets are "expressing interest" in Pirates first baseman Daniel Vogelbach, seemingly a prime trade candidate given Pittsburgh's continued struggles that will lead them to be sellers at the deadline. Vogelbach has a $1.5 million option for next season, but the Pirates could still elect to move him at the right price.

Vogelbach is batting .228 on the season with 12 home runs and a .769 OPS in 237 at-bats. The 29-year-old has a .745 OPS across his seven-year career.
