Steve Cohen has already made some of his $800 million back that he has spent so far this offseason.

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, Cohen’s Mets sold $1 million in single-game ticket sales on Wednesday, the day news broke that Cohen had swooped in to grab Carlos Correa on a 12-year, $315 million deal after the star infielder’s agreement with the Giants fell through due to concerns about his medicals.

Those concerns were extinguished by Correa’s agent Scott Boras on Thursday, and Correa was reportedly taking his physical with the Mets that same day.

Queens is buzzing with each passing free agent splash from Cohen, who has now brought in Correa, Justin Verlander, Kodai Senga, Jose Quintana, and David Robertson into the fold, while also bringing back Edwin Diaz and Brandon Nimmo on contracts eclipsing $100 million. The fans seem to be paying it back in ticket sales, excited to see their stacked roster take the field on Opening Day.

A similar event unfolded in Philadelphia three years back, when season ticket sales and merchandise sales skyrocketed for the Phillies after signing Bryce Harper to a $300 million deal. The fanbases respond when ownership invests heavily in the team, and Mets fans are clearly ready to pack Citi Field in 2023.
