Buck Showalter gave a slew of injury updates before Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers, which included two Mets set to begin rehab assignments.
Tylor Megill, who hasn’t pitched since June 16 with a shoulder strain, but he is heading to Double-A Binghamton and will begin a rehab assignment on Thursday. Megill, who could be a bullpen arm when he returns, plans to make five rehab appearances before returning to the Mets.
Also on the pitching side, Carlos Carrasco threw a bullpen on Wednesday and is on track to return this weekend after missing the last two weeks with an oblique strain.
Elsewhere, Luis Guillorme has been out since mid-August with a groin injury, could begin a rehab assignment on Sunday. His return would give the team some valuable infield versatility.
Also on the infield, Mets touted prospect and recent call-up Brett Baty underwent imaging for a thumb injury that kept him out of the running for a pinch hit spot in Tuesday’s loss. It was later announced that Baty would need surgery, and five weeks of recovery.
